Unlike a traditional hourglass that represents a limited amount of time, this combined painting and photograph shows an hourglass with an open top and open bottom. Time and life are always flowing.
Allowing for a continuous flow of life force, soul and desires. Flowing all around us and over us.Especially flowing into our broken cracks, the areas we see as flaws.
In the Japanese Proverb of Kintsugi, our value is not in our beauty, but in our imperfections. Eloquently referred to as being beautifully broken, in this tradition, gold and precious metals are used to gently weave and join the broken cracks back together, creating something with much more character, Intrigue and more beauty than the original 'perfect' piece.
Life is a precious gift…Our experiences and our lessons are all gifts. It is a gift given to us with the opportunity to share with others, to learn, to grow and to expand. Even sharing and showing our cracks.
